Welcome to the fifth edition of the newsletter for the Rebate Adolescent Health (RAd Health) trial. Many clinics are fast approaching or already past the 12-month/halfway mark of the RAd Health trial.

New resource alert!

We have developed an information sheet for patients aged 14-24 years who have received a health assessment as part of RAd Health. The information sheet can be given to your patient after a heath assessment, it includes:

A summary of a young person’s health assessment
A description of aspects of health covered in the assessment
A link to our (newly revamped!) patient resources page that can provide your patients with further information and resources should they need it
What the patient should do next
A large notes section for you to write any follow up suggestions/instructions for the patient.

Billing for RAd Health assessments

The RAd Health rebate has gone up, in line with MBS items 701, 703, 705, and 707:

<30 minutes: $65.30
30-44 minutes: $151.80
45-59 minutes: $209.45
60+ minutes: $295.90

If you are in an intervention clinic, please make sure you are billing us with these new rates – please email us if you need an updated billing invoice to claim the rebates from us. Let us know if you have any questions or need any further information on this.

We are keen to find out how doctors, nurses and practice managers (from both control and intervention clinics) are finding the RAd Health trial. To do this, we are conducting 30-minute phone/Zoom interviews with staff.

Interviewees receive a $100 Coles gift card.

RAd Health timeline

The RAd Health trial has a two-year time period that is measured from the moment your clinic was randomised. If you’re wondering how much time your clinic has left in the trial, feel free to email rad-health@unimelb.edu.au and we will be happy to let you know!

Happening soon!

Recruiting young people: about to start! We will soon be recruiting about 25 young people (aged 14-24) from each practice participating in the RAd Health trial. Young people will be recruited from intervention and control clinics and will be asked to complete interviews and / or surveys (for which they will be paid). There have been slight changes to the recruitment process. These changes will mean that recruitment of young people will happen virtually and should minimise the impact on your practice and workflow! We will be in touch with further information about this process.

CPD activities related to RAd Health Trial

Remember, GPs and nurses who complete certain RAd Health activities such as training / induction can record CPD hours. GPs who choose to pursue hours must log earned hours in myCPD Home. Check out our website for suggested activities related to participating in the RAd Health trial that may further count towards your required hours. RAd Health is unable to offer accredited CPD activities/hours.
